07:12 pm This post should have been posted back in August. I thought I lost it, but it magically appeared today.
It's been an interesting week. We've increased the number of paws in our family from 4 to 8.

07:32 pm - It's over I'm sad to see the series come to a close. Azkaban is still my favorite book. I did not loathe this book like I had feared. I did shed some tears and had some laughs along the way. I'm watching Sorcerer's Stone to remember when they all were young an innocent. It's nice to be able to participate in the internet world again. Now I just need to wait for the audiobook to download.

10:47 am - Order of the Phoenix Review
Don't worry, all spoilers are behind the cut for those who have not seen the movie yet.
Believe it or not, I am undecided if I like the movie or not. I'm waiting till I go see it again to make my decision. Everyone keeps asking me and I tell them that it's hard for me to judge the movie because I didn't like this book. I only read it 2 or 3 times and listened to the audiobook once. I read the first 4 more than that. I’m trying to judge this movie like I judged Goblet of Fire. I felt Goblet of Fire was someone’s adaptation of the book as great action movie. It’s a little harder for me to feel this way about Order because so many significant things needed to happen. As opposed to Goblet where there was one significant event and the movie showed it wonderfully. One of my knitter friends said it the best. The movie is a representation of book 5 just movies 3 and 4 did. I felt that 1 and 2 were more based on the book. There was one thing in particular that was changed that annoyed me, but it worked for the movie. I feel you have to go into the movie thinking that I'm going to see a movie and not base my expectations on what I have read and still have my visions of what I've read. I also found the movie on the choppy side. That it didn't flow together great. I felt this about Goblet too. The next time I go see the movie will be in a few weeks when you can get tickets for IMAX. I saw Goblet the second time in IMAX and it was wonderful.

03:34 pm - Money Magazine's Top 100 Places to Live #47. Sayreville, NJ
WHAT! My mom called me to tell me. Did I miss something here? I like my current town a hell of a lot better. Here's a cute quote from Mayor O'Brien "Living in a Norman Rockwell painting is very desirable," he said. "Those who live here know it's a great place to live." Sayreville is no Norman Rockwell painting. I've been to towns in New Hamsphire and Vermont and even upstate New York that really look like they should have been a Norman Rockwell painting.

10:53 am - Bear up a tree
 Posted May 8, 2007 9:55 AM
(Hamden-WTNH) _ It's a sight some Hamden resident's won't soon forget -- a bear up a tree in someone's back yard.
The bear was spotted around 9:00 a.m. in the vicinity of 46 Lexington St.
There were sightings of the bear in the Hamden area yesterday.
We'll post more details about what happened later this morning.
Yesterday the bear was spotted about 4-5 miles away from Lexington St. I didn't know where Lexington St was so I looked it up. It's close to where we are moving. I keep telling my co-workers that Winnie the Pooh is coming to visit.
Just please don't kill it. Thanks.
**ETA- The bear was tranquilized and removed from the tree. It was taken somewhere to be examined and then released back into the woods.

My heart goes out to all the families and friends who lost loved ones in the VT tragedy. For me personally it’s dredging up old memories of the Seton Hall fire, so I’m limit what I watch and read about it. But this man was such a hero. He saved his students’ lives by blocking the door. And he had seen horrors in his life that are unimaginable. It is just so senseless for him to be gunned down by some asshole on a vendetta. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Liviu Librescu, 76, an engineering science and mechanics lecturer. Born in Romania, he survived the Nazi Holocaust and emigrated to Israel in 1978 before moving to Virginia in 1985. An Israeli citizen, he had taught at Virginia Tech for 20 years and was internationally known for his work in aeronautical engineering. "His research has enabled better aircraft, superior composite materials, and more robust aerospace structures," said Ishwar Puri, the head of the engineering science and mechanics department. | Librescu family via AP
| After surviving the Nazi killings, Librescu escaped from Communist Romania and made his way to the United States before he was killed in Monday’s massacre, which coincided with Israel’s Holocaust Remembrance Day.
Librescu's son, Joe, said his father's students sent e-mails detailing how the professor saved their lives by blocking the doorway of his classroom from the approaching gunman before he was fatally shot. “My father blocked the doorway with his body and asked the students to flee,” Joe Librescu said from his home outside of Tel Aviv. “Students started opening windows and jumping out.”

06:15 pm - And then there were 3 When was the last time you ate at a Howard Johnson's? I couldn't tell you when was my last time. It has gotten a little harder for us to eat at one. There are only 3 left in the country. Granted 2 of them are in update NY. Today the one in Waterbury changed it's name due to franchising issues. The bottom of the article says that HoJo's is going to try to re-launch the name in 2008. We'll see.
